One ESPN producer has some explaining to do.
On Thursday night, former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason was honored with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPY Awards ceremony for his contribution to ALS awareness.
During Gleason’s speech, he spoke about how he would have been dead years ago if it were not for the help of his family and friends.
For whatever reason, ESPN’s producers panned towards Damar Hamlin, who nearly died on a football field last year, when Gleason said he would have been dead years ago.

Fans blasted ESPN’s producers for doing Hamlin dirty during the ESPYs ceremony.
“Whoever hit that other camera button in production is prolly fired by now” commented one fan.
“ESPN camera man is diabolical for showing Damar Hamlin while the guy on stage says he shoulda been dead years ago” said another fan.
The camera panning to Hamlin was probably a coincidence, but definitely unfortunate.
